I had a very nice Mother's Day yesterday with Caelen, Brid and Martin. We all went downtown to walk around and enjoy the beautiful weather. Afterwards we went to Sly Fox (they allow dogs) and had a nice early dinner. We had the iPad in hand, so eating out with Caelen is a little easier.
What inspired me to update today was actually another blog that I read. It is about a little boy named Tripp that had a rare skin disease called EB. He passed away 4 months ago and today would have been his 3rd birthday. It's heartbreaking to read sometimes, and I often cry when I read her posts, but they always make me hug Caelen a little tighter. The link to Tripp's birthday post is below. If you wouldn't mind, I encourage you to read today's post.

This is what makes my job as a Mom easy. Well, easier. I still have my beautiful baby boy, and I got to celebrate the best Mother's Day yet. I get to hold him each and every day, and I get to watch him grow. Every week is something new. I get funny texts from his teachers during the day. I get to be tackled and then smothered in kisses from my sweet boy. And I get to make plans for the summer and dream up ideas for Caelen's third birthday.
I am in awe of Courtney's strength. Moms like her make me want to do a better job. And when I get frustrated because Caelen still isn't making the progress that I had hoped for when it comes to eating, or his developmental delays, or his impending surgery, or even something else, I have to remind myself that not all moms get to be frustrated. Not all moms get to see their beautiful child every day. And so I am grateful. And I am blessed.
Caelen is the best thing that has ever happened to me, and I am eternally grateful that God chose me as his mommy.
Love,
Katye, Martin & Caelen
